Study Shows Increase In Workplace Deaths
Last updated on Wednesday, August 02, 2006
(COLUMBUS) - Deaths in Indiana workplaces jumped by 1/6 in 2004 after five straight years of declines.
An IUPUI-Columbus study finds nearly half the 153 on-the-job deaths were transportation-related, either highway crashes, or incidents in parking lots or on construction sites.
Tied for second: equipment accidents and workplace violence. Falls, hazardous materials, and fires account for the rest.
