It's Back-To-School Time
(UNDATED) - From number two pencils to MP3 players, Indiana families are spending hundreds of dollars on items they plan to use during the new school year.
The National Retail Federation expects the average Midwestern family this year to shell out about $521 on back-to-school shopping. That marks a nineteen percent increase from 2005.
Federation vice president Scott Krugman ties the increase to the growing popularity of electronic items including new cellphone models and I-pods. About 75% of Hoosier families will make those purchases at one-stop-shop discounters to save time and money.
