(STATEHOUSE) - Indiana’s cleanup of its voter rolls is on hold until after the November election.

Secretary of State Todd Rokita says 125,000 names who are either dead or registered in more than one county have been purged from the voter lists.

314,000 names have been classified as "inactive" after a mailing came back marked undeliverable. They'll be dropped from the rolls in 2010 unless they vote before then.

Rokita says it's now too close to the election to pursue any further status changes. After November, he says as many as a half-million more could be marked inactive.
