Destroyed Bridge To Be Ready For Festival
(BRIDGETON) - The reconstruction of a Parke County bridge destroyed last year by an arsonist should be finished just in time for the area’s famous fall festival.
Work began last week on a replica of the 245-foot-long Bridgeton Bridge.
Bridgeton Covered Bridge Association Treasurer Bart Barnes says the original covered structure was considered one of the most scenic in the country.
Crews are now getting ready to place the superstructure over Raccoon Creek.
The bridge is one of 31 featured during the annual covered bridge festival in mid-October.
