State's Health May Increase Insurance Deductibles
Last updated on Monday, July 31, 2006
(UNDATED) - Medical officials say the state’s fitness crisis could lead to a big jump in insurance premiums in 2007.
A consulting firm says rates for HMO's and PPO's will likely increase between 9% to 11% in the coming year. That could mean doubling the standard deductible on many accounts from $250 to $500.
Insurance adjusters say more people are using their policies, which makes it more expensive for insurers, which must pay hospitals for those claims.
