(INDIANAPOLIS) - Once again, an outbreak of a feline virus is preventing humane society branches from accepting prospective adopted pets.
Officials say there has been an outbreak of feline distemper, which could spread to the rest of the cat population of a shelter if a pet carrying the virus was introduced.
The disease preys on young cats, but cannot be transmitted to dogs or people. It will be two to three weeks before adoptions by the humane society can begin again.
