(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Homeland Security recently unveiled
its new mobile command and communications center.

The Division of Emergency Response Director Phil Roberts says planning for disasters is a 24-hour-seven-day job.

The state is already working on a disaster morticians team. Roberts says the team would respond to situations involving numerous deaths such as an airliner crash or the aftermath of severe weather. Equipment to staff the team is on order.

The state is divided into 10 emergency response districts. Roberts says planning continues to make sure resources in each one can be moved quickly to other parts of the state as needed.

Roberts says if past history is anything to go by the primary response the units will have will be for weather related events.
