Know What To Do During Lightning Storms
(INDIANAPOLIS) - This is Lightning Awareness Week.
National Weather Service Indianapolis Meteorologist Dave Tucek says the best place to be is in a fully enclosed building with electrical wiring and plumbing where lightning has a way to get to ground.
An average of 65 people are killed each year across the country. Indiana averages about one a year.
If you should be caught out in the open, the best place to seek shelter is in a car. Tucek says the best way to stay safe is to stay informed and have a plan on where to go if lightning starts.
