Indiana Gaming Commission Holding Public Hearings Around The State
(RICHMOND) - The Indiana Gaming Commission becomes responsible for regulating charitable gaming in one month.
The Department of Revenue had been responsible. Public hearings began in Richmond to get input from charities which use gaming to raise funds and from the people who participate in those games.
Gaming Commission Executive Director Ernie Yelton says charities are required to have licenses for bingo, raffles, punch boards, tip boards, and door prizes. Yelton says he believes a lot of events are out of compliance with the law out of ignorance rather than mischief intent. He hopes the public hearings in the next week help raise awareness.
Other public hearings will take place in Indianapolis, Lafayette, Fort Wayne, Jasper and Michigan City.
