(UNDATED) - There may be more than corn in Indiana, but the Indiana Department of Correction plans to buy 1.5 million bushels of it after implementing a new energy saving project.

The installation of corn-fueled heating systems is underway inside four state prisons.

Indiana Department Of Correction Commissioner J. David Donahue says the new energy source will address skyrocketing utility costs, saving Hoosier taxpayers 3-million-dollars each year.

Officials say installation of all four systems should be finalized within 18 months.
