Trash Bash Hauls Off Tons Of Trash
Last updated on Tuesday, May 23, 2006
(UNDATED) - Officials with the State Department of Transportation say an annual highway cleanup is a success.
The 2006 edition of "Trash Bash" sent volunteers and Department of Corrections inmates to every mile of highway in the state over the weekend.
Trash bags were filled with 472 tons of refuse, including a refrigerator and the molding from a 1957 Chevrolet automobile. A normal year brings in about 340 tons of garbage.
