(INDIANAPOLIS) - If you’re planning to head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the race, officials urge you to take heed of the track’s safety regulations.

IMS director of Public Relations Ron Green says it's okay to bring in outside food and drink, as long as it's not in a glass container.

Coolers are acceptable, even hard ones, as long as they're 14 inches or smaller on all sides. Patrons will be subject to random searches as they pass through the gates.

Green says the Speedway pays more than 1000 security officers to be on staff the day of the race. That number does not include officers there from the Indianapolis Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff's Department or other agencies.
