(INDIANAPOLIS) - A cultural scholar says Indiana can stop the so called “brain drain.”

With more and more students choosing to attend college out of state and staying there, Hoosiers are wondering how to keep kids here in the heartland.

Doctor Richard Florida says state lawmakers need to work toward what he calls the "3 Ts:" technology, talent, and tolerance. Florida made these comments, at a time when state lawmakers are considering bans on gay marriage and gay adoption.

Florida says it's an issue of asking young urban professionals what they want, as opposed to allowing a select few to make all the decisions. He says it's as simple as talking to kids about where they want to live.
