More Trees, Less Crime?

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Can planting trees really help reduce crime?

The city of Indianapolis is going to try. Indianapolis mayor Bart Peterson and members of keep Indianapolis beautiful are kicking off the "Neighborwoods" initiative, by planting the first of 100,000 new trees for the city.

Officials say, at a time when crime is on the rise and trees across the area face the threat of the emerald ash borer, a major effort is needed to save Indianapolis' foliage. Studies have shown a direct link between trees and crime in certain neighborhoods.
