(TERRE HAUTE) - Students at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology say they’ve created two new tools to aid the blind.

A visit to the Indiana School for the Blind led engineering students to create gadgets to help those without sight swim faster and use a spoon properly.

The swimming aid uses waterproof headphones to allow competitive swimmers to know when they're close to a wall and must make a turn.

The spoon is smaller than previous models and allows sightless children to learn the proper way to use the utensil.
