(VINCENNES) - Vincennes is gearing up for a Red Skelton festival in June.

Organizer Marilyn McCormick says the grand gala opening of the Red Skelton performing arts center takes place June 10th and 11th with a thousand clowns marching through the streets in a parade. There will be a "red tie" gala with performances by the Smothers Brothers and a Red Skelton impersonator.

Mccormick says tickets are $150.00 each, but go to a fund for a Red Skelton museum. The southern Indiana entertainer was a comedian and clown but was also known for his oil paintings of clowns. Skelton was a composer too. He wrote 64 symphonies and over 8,000 songs. McCormick says the museum will house his Emmy's, costumes, paintings and many other pieces of memorabilia.
