(UNDATED) - AT&T says it will extend broadband service to all 160 of its central offices in Indiana by this time next year.

The phone company is installing broadband lines in 33 rural towns that range from Paragon to Mechanicsburg.

Indiana AT&T president George Fleetwood says AT&T had expansion plans in only two of those towns before the general assembly approved telecom deregulation. Fleetwood says the expansion will increase AT&T broadband coverage about 4 percent.

The deregulation law gives phone companies freedom to raise rates if they expand rural broadband, but Fleetwood says there are no plans for now to do so.
