BMV to issue new driver's license
The Indiana BMV could soon be required to grant a type of drivers license to illegal immigrants.
State Representative Democrat John Aguilera will propose a bill in the upcoming lesgislative session that allows “undocumented workers” to receive driving privileges.
The East Chicago, Illinois Democrat says the license would not serve as a legal ID.
Aguilera says this would allow these workers to drive legally and obtain car insurance. They’d also be required to pass a driving test.
Students arrested for animal cruelty
ANGOLA—Two northern Indiana students have been arrested in connection with a case of animal cruelty.
Angola Police say two students had doused a cat with gasoline and set it on fire.
Investigators say they learned of the torture after the students had bragged about it to fellow students at Angola High School.
Police say a video tape exists which shows about 40 cats being tortured.
Video conference slated for tonight
At 20 locations around Indiana farmers, producers, tax accountants and other individuals can gather for a video conference this evening from seven to nine p.m. The subject will center on a management-oriented discussion of the recent tax law changes and their implications.
The information will originate at Purdue University. Our closest location will be at the Community Learning Center of Orange County in Paoli.
Congress has made it almost optional for farmers who invested in farm assets in 2005 to pay federal income taxes.
Producers will have the opportunity to ask questions by telephone or fax.
There is no charge for the program. It’s too early to tell if the weather might cause this program to be cancelled tonight. We’ll keep you posted.

DNR to change rates at parks
The Department of Natural resources will increase the fees next year for using state parks and some campgrounds. The daily gate fees for in-state residents will increase from four dollars to five dollars on weekends and holidays. Swimming rates go from three dollars to two dollars a day.
