Record Attendance For 2018 Indiana Arts Homecoming

Last updated on Monday, December 3, 2018

(FORT WAYNE) - More than 300 people from 41 Indiana counties attended the second annual Indiana Arts Homecoming October 18 - 19, 2018 in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana setting a new attendance record for the annual two-day convening of the arts.

Hosted in partnership with Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, the conference brought together artists, arts administrators, arts educators, elected officials, economic development and tourism professionals to network and learn ways to make the arts more central to creative placemaking.

"From our local partner, Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne to our primary sponsor, the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne, we could not have asked for greater community support of our statewide conference," said IAC Deputy Director Miah Michaelsen. "The sponsorship enabled us to provide more than 50 scholarships to enable greater participation in the convening."

The annual conference was launched in 2017 to bring together the state's arts community and civic leaders dedicated to finding new ways to make the arts central to the quality of life.

Would your community like to host 2020 Arts Homecoming?

The Indiana Arts Commission is seeking a host community for the 2020 Indiana Arts Homecoming. In 2018 the conference was hosted at the Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne downtown Arts Campus. In 2019, the conference will return to the Indianapolis area, but the Commission is planning ahead to take the 2020 Homecoming back to a community in another part of the state. Learn more.
