(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor Holcomb’s 2019 Next Level Agenda continues work on his five pillars essential to Hoosier success: the economy, infrastructure, education, and workforce development, public health, and the drug epidemic, and delivering great government service for Hoosiers.
This is the detailed strategic plan that will ensure Hoosier success in 2019 and beyond:
Cultivate a Strong & Diverse Economy
Indiana is the fiscal envy of the nation - and we intend to keep our economy growing! That starts with passing Indiana's eighth-straight balanced budget with responsible reserves and modernizing economic development tools to increase competitiveness, economic diversity and flexibility.
Maintain & Build the State's Infrastructure
Ask Governor Holcomb, and he'll tell you that in the Crossroads of America, infrastructure is the key to connecting Hoosiers to each other and the world. Through our Next Level Connections initiative, announced in September, we will grow our infrastructure, including accelerating the completion of I-69 to 2024 and expanding access to high-speed, affordable broadband to unserved communities.
Stand With Hoosiers Through Every Step of the Their Education
That includes early learning, high school, and workforce training as Hoosiers look to skill-up to fill today's new high-wage, high-demand jobs. Specifically, we'll give schools flexibility to develop partnerships to expose students to more opportunities, and we'll expand the Workforce Ready Grants and Employer Training Grants that are making Next Level Jobs such a big success.
Promote Public Health & Attack the Drug Epidemic
Working to help lift up Hoosier children and families is essential to promoting public health. We will adopt school safety recommendations, including more mental health tools and physical safety enhancements. This plan will help children in need through the Department of Child Services, as well as provide new tools to lower infant mortality and help those recovering from the drug epidemic.
Deliver Great Government Service
It's time to modernize our state government technology, as well as streamline state boards and commissions to make it easier for Hoosiers to interact with their government.
With these five pillars as guidance, 2019 will be a year of progress and concrete results for Hoosiers across the state, and Governor Holcomb is extremely excited to put this plan into action!
