Last updated on Tuesday, November 13, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - SBA Indiana Director Stacey Poynter heads to the Main Street Corydon November 14th and joins Town Council President Eva North to visit small businesses as part of SBA Indiana’s Small Business Saturday Walking Tour initiative.

The purpose of the tour is to promote Small Business Saturday, November 24 and highlight the importance of shopping small this holiday season.

"Small businesses are the engine of Indiana's economy and responsible for creating over 33 thousand net new jobs last year," Poynter said. "Shopping small allows consumers to make a tremendous impact by supporting small business owners creating jobs in their own neighborhood. By shopping local and shopping small, consumers are investing in the success of their community's future."

"We are excited to be hosting the Small Business Saturday walking tour on November 14, 2018," said Angel Frizzell, Executive Director of Main Street Corydon. "It is a primary goal of Main Street Corydon to focus on marketing and promoting the small businesses in the historic downtown district. These shops and restaurants are the heart of Corydon and provide special shopping and dining experiences for individuals, friends, and family. It is always a wonderful opportunity for those who can live, work and shop in their hometown."

Corydon is the first stop on the Small Business Saturday Walking Tour initiative. The tour kicks off at Kent Java Bar, 227 E. Chestnut Street in Corydon at 10 a.m. with a press conference. SBA teams will also tour neighborhoods in Evansville and Greenfield.

Small Business Saturday is celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year marks the ninth annual celebration of Small Business Saturday on November 24. For Last year, an estimated 108 million nationwide consumers shopped small on Small Business Saturday. For more information and to find where you can shop small, visit www.sba.gov/saturday .
