(PENDLETON) - A now-former correctional officer is accused of trafficking and sex with an inmate.

According to the Pendleton Correctional Facility, Janet Miller of Zionsville has been arrested in the case.

PCF said Miller was suspended on Oct. 18 and then fired on Oct. 23 after being accused of trafficking with an inmate.

Investigators later received information that she had been involved in a sexual relationship with an inmate while she was employed at the facility.

She now faces charges of trafficking with an inmate, official misconduct and sexual misconduct with an inmate. All three charges are felonies.

She has been booked into the Madison County Jail.

The inmate has been placed in Administrative Restrictive Housing.

"The threat and vulnerability a person places themselves in this type of situation is incomprehensible and criminal," said Warden Dushan Zatecky. "I want to thank our team who, although the staff member had already been terminated on another charge, continued to pursue the matter when new information was presented. We will never tolerate this type of behavior by any staff member who places not only themselves in danger, but all staff."
