(WASHINGTON) - The National Law Enforcement Museum — the nation’s only museum dedicated to exploring nearly every facet of American law enforcement — announced a one-million-dollar donation from the FirstNet team at AT&T.
The team behind the first high-speed, nationwide wireless broadband network dedicated to public safety, the FirstNet team at AT&T has generously sponsored the Museum's Web of Law Enforcement feature in the To Serve and Protect exhibit, which uses media in different ways to explain the basics of how law enforcement works, what officers do, and why it is important.
The Web of Law Enforcement uses state-of-the-art technology to educate visitors about the 18,000 law enforcement agencies across the country that must work together to solve crimes and ensure public safety. With the push of a button, visitors can view a description of a crime and see a series of pop-ups that show how numerous agencies are involved in an investigation. Many agencies work behind-the-scenes to provide data and other information that is essential to solving crimes.
"The generous gift from the FirstNet team at AT&T to the Museum underscores its ongoing commitment to public safety," said David Brant, executive director at the National Law Enforcement Museum. "This gift will help further the Museum's mission of telling the history of American law enforcement in an immersive and engaging manner."

AT&T, in a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority, is currently building FirstNet, the nationwide public safety communications platform dedicated to America's first responders. FirstNet was born out of the 9/11 Commission's recommendation to enhance communications across the entire public safety community. It's designed with and for first responders to give them the modern communications tools they need, so they can operate faster, safer, and more effectively when lives are on the line.
The National Law Enforcement Museum opened to the public on Saturday, October 13, 2018 -- following a dedication ceremony on Thursday, October 11. The Museum is located at Judiciary Square across from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and is dedicated to expanding and enriching the relationship shared by law enforcement and the community through educational journeys, immersive exhibitions, insightful programs, and community partnerships.
