(BUNKER HILL) - An ex-northern Indiana town marshal who authorities say provided false police credentials for an acquaintance so the person could be paid more while working as a security guard has pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice.
TV station WRTV reports Aaron Dague of Wabash entered the plea Thursday under a deal with prosecutors and was sentenced to one year of probation and can no longer work in law enforcement.
Dague was originally charged with official misconduct, obstruction of justice and forgery.
He was hired as marshal of the town of about 900 residents in February 2017 after its former marshal and four deputies resigned in late 2016. He was fired in December 2017. State police say that while serving as town marshal he provided the false credentials and a Bunker Hill police badge.
