Indiana GOP Chairman Praises Secretary Lawson's Decision To Accept Defective Democrat Absentee Ballot Applications

Last updated on Sunday, September 30, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer released this statement, following the decision of Secretary of State Connie Lawson and the co-directors of the Indiana Election Division to accept defective absentee ballot applications distributed by the Indiana Democratic Party:

"The Indiana Democratic Party should know election law and should understand the basic process for distributing absentee ballot request forms. It's elections 101. It's clear, though, that they tried to play loose with the rules and almost disfranchised thousands of Hoosiers.

"I'm thankful that Secretary of State Connie Lawson took action today to make sure that Hoosiers impacted by Indiana Democrats' careless actions will still have access to absentee voting. As a former county clerk, former legislator focused on elections issues, and an experienced secretary of state, Connie Lawson has spent her career making it easier for Hoosiers to vote, while also keeping our elections free, fair and secure."
