(KOKOMO) - Authorities say a 15-year-old youth has died after crashing a stolen car pursued by police in north central Indiana.
Howard County Coroner Steven Seele says 15-year-old Travis L. Abston Jr. of Battle Ground died Tuesday after crashing into another car in Kokomo.
Kokomo Police say officers spotted the stolen car around noon and a chase began at high speed. Police say they learned the stolen car's driver might be armed and headed to a Kokomo school to possibly harm someone. The crash occurred a short time later.
Capt. Tonda Cockrell says no shots were fired in the incident.
The driver of the second car was transported to a hospital.
An officer at the alternative school called The Crossing said it was informed of the threat and canceled classes before they began.
