(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is warning the public that all motorized and non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited on I-65 during the closures downtown and on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

This is an active construction site that crews will be monitoring around the clock. INDOT advises that the proper authorities will be called on offenders, and those offenders could face lawful consequences. Only authorized personnel are allowed in these construction areas.

IMPORTANT #PSA: I-65 will be closed in both directions between 21st St and Meridian St from 07/01 - 08/05/2018. Please plan for an alternate route. #ItsComing @INDOT #IndyTraffichttps://t.co/H7Gd58rFiC pic.twitter.com/JQxd27Z3Wz

The public can report anyone going through the restricted areas by contacting the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department or Indiana State Police.

The significance of this closure is to keep the general public and our workers safe during the acceleration of this project.
