Fire Destroys Seven Dump Trucks Worth $1M In Indianapolis

Last updated on Thursday, July 5, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A fire has destroyed seven 20-ton dump trucks valued at more than $1 million.

The Indianapolis Star reports that Indianapolis Fire Department crews were dispatched about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to an east-side trucking business.

Battalion Chief Rita Reith reported that firefighters saw seven trucks on fire in the parking lot of Wells Peden Trucking.

Crews controlled the blaze within 30 minutes. Officials say that loud noises heard during the fire were tires exploding.

No one was hurt in the fire and Reith says the cause remains under investigation.

Each of the trucks was valued at $150,000.

Wells Peden Trucking has been in operation for about seven years.

Officials said the business owners were on site and assisting in the investigation.
