Rokita: Fighting To Prevent Youth Opioid Addiction

Last updated on Friday, June 8, 2018

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Chairman of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, Congressman Todd Rokita, released this statement after the White House announced their new opioid initiative campaign: The Truth About Opioids:

"The opioid crisis continues to infiltrate our communities and harm our youth," said Congressman Todd Rokita. "We must end this addiction that is taking hold of our future generations. That is why I will continue to work with President Trump through my chairmanship of the K-12 subcommittee to develop solutions that educate and prevent young Americans from being destroyed by this debilitating epidemic."

As Chairman of the K-12 Subcommittee, Congressman Rokita has worked tirelessly on the opioid epidemic. Earlier this year he chaired a hearing, "Close to Home: How Opioids are Impacting Our Communities", which examined solutions to keep our communities safe from the opioid crisis. Rokita has also hosted several School Safety Summits that specifically focused on the opioid epidemic and proposed ideas for schools to become a safer place for our students.
