"FishIN Adventures" to be found on the Hoosier National Forest

(TELL CITY) - The 16th Annual Adventures With Nature will be held at Tipsaw Lake Saturday, June 23rd from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. This year’s theme- “FishIN Adventures” includes a fishing derby for ages 0-15 with registration for the fishing derby beginning at 8:30 a.m. Perry & Spencer Counties Soil & Water Districts, Purdue Extension Perry County and the US Forest Service once again are partnering to host this annual event.

'FishIN Adventures' will feature lots of fun activities, games and exhibitors, as well as many demonstrations focusing on different types of fishing, what you need to do in preparation and after the catch. Some of the demonstrations to be held at different times during the day will be fish shocking, fike netting, cast netting, fly fishing, and fish cleaning/fileting.

The fishing derby will be held in heats beginning at 9:00 a.m. Preregistration is available by calling the US Forest Service office at 812-547-7051. You may also come the morning of the event and sign in. Prizes will be awarded for the largest caught and the most fish caught per age group. Kids are encouraged to bring their own pole, tackle and bait. There will be a limited number of loaner poles and bait available at the derby. Younger children should be accompanied by an adult and the adult will need to have a valid fishing license for the event. Fishing licenses will be available for purchase at the event with services provided by Indiana Conservation Officers.

Tipsaw Lake is located in Perry County near Branchville off of SR37 approximately 15 miles north of Tell City. 'FishIN Adventures' is free to attend although there will be a $3.00 charge per car to enter the recreation area.
