"Providing students access to healthy and nutritious meals and snacks is a key factor to creating positive learning experiences," said Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. "I am encouraged by schools all across our state who ensure students eat well during the school day, and I want to recognize O'Bannon Elementary for their efforts in going above and beyond with nutrition."

In its third year, the Indiana Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program School of the Year Award provides formal recognition to schools who provide outstanding service to students. The goal of the program is to improve students' overall diet while creating healthier eating habits that impact their present and future wellbeing.
