DePauw: Juveniles Suspected In Racial Slur Found On Campus

Last updated on Wednesday, May 2, 2018

(GREENCASTLE) - DePauw University says juveniles are suspected of leaving a racial slur recently found at a park on the western Indiana campus.

The school's public safety office said in an email sent Tuesday to faculty, staff and students that more than one juvenile is accused of forming the slur in rocks at the campus' nature park.

WXIN-TV reports that the suspects' names haven't been released due to their ages, but they face no-trespass orders barring them from visiting the campus in Greencastle, about 40 miles west of Indianapolis.

The slur found in the park is one of several racist messages found discovered around the private, 2,000-student school.

Those incidents prompted protesters to interrupt a campus event last month with actress Jenna Fischer and unfurl a banner reading, "We are not safe."
