Wabash Woman Dies In Motorcycle Crash

Last updated on Monday, May 7, 2018

(PERU) - Saturday at approximately 8:45 a.m., officers from the Indiana State Police and the Miami County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle crash on U.S. 24 near Miami County Road 300 East, in which a Wabash woman died.

The preliminary crash investigation by Indiana State Police Trooper Todd Trottier revealed that Eric Lee Kuhn, 34, Warsaw, was driving a 2013 Victory motorcycle westbound on U.S. 24 near Miami County Road 300 East. Evidence indicates the rear tire on the motorcycle blew, sending the motorcycle tumbling, ejecting Kuhn and his passenger 25-year-old Taylour Leigh Sparks of Wabash. Neither were wearing a helmet.

Sparks was pronounced dead at the scene. Lutheran Medical Helicopter flew Kuhn, from the crash scene, to a Ft. Wayne hospital. His injuries are unknown.

This is an ongoing investigation, but at this time neither the use of alcohol nor narcotics is suspected as having contributed to this crash.

Trooper Trottier was assisted at the crash scene by Senior Trooper Josh Tarrh, the Miami County Sheriff's Department, Miami County Emergency Management, and Lutheran Hospital EMS.
