2018 Indiana Health Workforce Summit Occurs Next Week

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The third annual Indiana Health Workforce Summit will be held May 22, 2018, at the Indiana Government Conference Center. This Summit is hosted by the Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research & Policy (Bowen Center) in partnership with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), and Indiana State Department of Health.

This annual event brings together key stakeholders and decision makers from various sectors including: health providers and employers, health-related organizations, economic development, public health, health insurance and social programs, professional associations, academia, and legislative representatives.

Mike Barnes, DWD's Associate Chief Operating Officer for Employee Engagement, will be recognized during the event by the Bowen Center for his contributions as Chairman of the Governor's Health Workforce Council.

The 2018 Indiana Health Workforce Summit will feature a slate of top-notch panelists presenting on the health priorities in Indiana. Morning session highlights include a keynote presentation by the Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box and a panel comprised six occupations involved in maternal child health including: rural family physician, public health nurse, certified nurse midwife, community health worker, epidemiologist, and legislator. Afternoon sessions feature rapid-fire presentations on a number of priority issues, including; Governor's Health Workforce Council; Health Sector Occupational Licensing; and, health workforce shortages, including addictions workforce. National partners presenting at the event include the National Governors Association, National Conference of State Legislatures, Council of State Governments, and the Pew Charitable Trusts.
