STI's on the Rise in Indiana

Last updated on Tuesday, April 3, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - More people in Indiana and across the U.S. are contracting sexually transmitted infections.

That according to the CDC which says the number of people getting infected with STI's has increased every year for the last three years.

Last year in Indiana, over 34,000 people contracted Chlamydia, a third of those cases being in Marion County.

Dr. Kelly Kasper, an OBGYN with IU Health, says both the opioid crisis and a lack of education on "safer" sex for young people are causing the rise.
