Indianapolis Companies Join Forces in a Chase to Space this Summer

Last updated on Friday, April 13, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, BLAST OFF!

We've all participated in a countdown right before launching a play rocket or toy figurine into their air. Why? Because the thought of flying, exploring space and learning new things is exciting!

This summer, middle and high school students are invited to join Fourteen Six Street at Legacy Christian School for The Chase to Space. During this camp held on Monday, June 25 - Friday, June 29 from 9:00am-12:00pm, students will build, launch and retrieve a high-altitude weather balloon that will fly 50,000 - 100,000 feet in the air.

Instructors for this camp include Steve Jordan and Steve Brant, two engineers who have worked on High Altitude Balloon projects for the University of Maine. This camp will be packed with education and students will learn about atmospheric conditions, GPS electronics, ham radio operation, using mathematics to calculate lift and payload weight, real-time flight tracking, flight path projections, and more.

Sign up your child online today to join The Chase to Space this summer. Spots are limited to 10 students and registration will fill up fast.
