Indiana Poetry Out Loud Champion To Compete In National Finals

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Arts Commission and the Indiana State Library announced today that Indiana’s Poetry Out Loud State Champion Joshua Fisher from Warsaw Community High School, Warsaw, Indiana, will be among student finalists competing in the 2018 Poetry Out Loud National Finals.

Students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands will recite poems on stage in Washington, D.C. vying for the title of National Champion. With the title comes a $20,000 prize. For more information about Poetry Out Loud, visit http://www.poetryoutloud.org/about.

The Poetry Out Loud semi-finals and finals will be streamed online. The Midwest and South Central round, which includes Indiana, will begin at 1 p.m. (EDT) Tuesday, April 24, 2018. The live webcast of the final rounds will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 7 p.m. (EDT).

Poetry Out Loud is a partnership program of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Poetry Foundation.
