Legendary Pacer, Sports Writer To Sign Books In Irvington Sunday

Last updated on Thursday, March 15, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Pacers’ fans and basketball history buffs are invited to join legendary American Basketball Association Pacers player Robert “Neto” Netolicky and sports writer Robin Miler - co-authors of We Changed the Game - on Sunday at the historic Irving Theater for the first book signing.

The book launched for pre-order in December, and became available this week for immediate purchase via Amazon and Hilton Publishing. Ten percent of the book proceeds go to fund Dropping Dimes, an Indiana not-for-profit that assists ABA players and their families facing financial or medical difficulties.

"These proceeds are crucial to so many of my former teammates and other players because after the NBA-ABA merger, the ABA itself ceased to exist as a going concern, and former ABA players who were not part of the merger were generally left without a pension," said Netolicky who serves on the advisory board of Dropping Dimes.

The book-signing event will be held at the Irving Theater, 5505 E. Washington St., from 2-4p.m on March 18. Dick Tinkam, one of the original ABA Pacer's founders, also will join Netolicky and Miller at the book signing.

The newly released book details a fly-on-the-wall account of life behind the scenes for the ABA Indiana Pacers Indiana from 1967 to 1976.

"These are the stories that have never been made public before now," said Miller. "Readers are given a fly-on-the-wall perspective of the Pacers' journey from the deepest insider levels. It's like a tale of the Wild West in tennis shoes."

We Changed the Game, published by Hilton Publishing, tells first-hand stories about player to player interaction, their relationships with their Hall of Fame coach Bobby "Slick" Leonard, life in the locker-room and on the road, and the league and team's financial difficulties, changing the city of Indianapolis and the game of basketball forever.
