Indianapolis Airport Commemorating 50th Anniversary Of Robert Kennedy Speech

Last updated on Monday, March 19, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis International Airport is hosting exhibits honoring Robert F. Kennedy, who gave an iconic speech in the city following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

Visitors to the airport can view photos and stories of people who attended Kennedy's April 4, 1968, speech, which was given in a predominantly poor African-American neighborhood.

They can also read a transcription of the speech, which is credited with preventing rioting in Indianapolis after King's assassination while other U.S. cities burned in the unrest. Kennedy himself was assassinated months later.

The exhibits commemorate the 50th anniversary of his remarks and will be up through early April.
