USO Of Indiana Competing In 2018 Indiana Brackets For Good Tournament

Last updated on Tuesday, February 27, 2018

(INDIANAPOLIS) - USO of Indiana has been selected from more than 2,128 charitable organizations across the country to compete in Brackets For Good 2018. Starting Friday, March 2, USO of Indiana will rally supporters to advance in an online single-elimination bracket-style fundraising tournament.

Donations from the Brackets for Good tournament will go toward the five hospitality centers and outreach programs the USO of Indiana operates throughout the state of Indiana such as the Bob Hope Legacy United Through Reading Program. The Camp Atterbury USO Center has room dedicated to the Bob Hope Legacy United Through Reading program where USO volunteers video record service members reading a book to their children. The book and the recording are then mailed to the service member's family. Part of the USO mission is to keep our service members connected to their families. Through the Bob Hope Legacy Reading Program, the USO of Indiana can provide our military families a way of connecting to their loved ones even when separated by 10,000 miles

"The USO of Indiana is very excited to have been selected to compete in Brackets For Good 2018. Military service members love sports and Brackets For Good creates the enthusiasm of a live sporting event in a fundraising style tournament. We are so appreciative to the team at Lenex Steel Company for stepping forward as our Community Teammate for the second consecutive year to rally support for the USO of Indiana," said Charles Ridings, Executive Director.

Indianapolis-based Brackets For Good pairs with corporate and nonprofit sponsors to host online bracket-style fundraising tournaments in philanthropic communities around the United States. Brackets For Good has raised more than $6.4 million for charitable nonprofits since its 2012 kick-off contest in Indianapolis.

Mandy Hanavan, Vice President of Personnel at Lenex Steel Company said, "Steel that stands for something has always been our motto at Lenex Steel. We are thrilled to be a Community Teammate of the USO of Indiana that stands for our troops and their families. Brackets For Good is a great opportunity for corporations to interact with local charities to support our community. It's a definite win-win and we cannot wait for the March Madness to begin!"

Participating nonprofits rally enthusiastic donors to out-fundraise their opponents in order to advance. Through the excitement, localized marketing and corporate involvement, nonprofits earn increased exposure, gain access to free fundraising tools, and are introduced to new donors. Dollars from donors translate to points, giving participants the opportunity to advance in each markets' bracket. Competing nonprofits keep donations received during tournament play, no matter how many rounds they advance. The winning organization in each tournament receives an additional championship grant.
