(INDIANAPOLIS) - Safety doesn't happen by accident. Hoosier businesses can mitigate risks, improve safety and stay current on key issues when representatives attend the 2018 Indiana Safety and Health Conference & Expo March 12-14.

The largest safety and health conference in the state offers over 70 education sessions, engaging speakers and more than 100 exhibitors and safety vendors during the three-day event, held at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.

Presented by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Central Indiana Chapter of American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), INSafe and the Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS), the conference is sponsored by Gibson.

On March 13, opening keynote speaker Kina Repp will share her story of losing her arm on the first day of work in a fish processing plant. She regularly speaks to Fortune 500 companies, manufacturers and other groups and will relate her experience to the need to make safety a personal responsibility.

Sgt. Sammy L. Davis will open the March 14 general session. Davis was awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient for his heroics in Vietnam which inspired the wartime service depicted in the movie Forrest Gump.

The 2018 Governor's Workplace Safety Awards Luncheon on March 14 will feature Tom Cecich, CSP, CIH, Avetta strategic board advisor and ASSE past president. He will discuss the current state of the safety profession and where it may be headed. The Governor's Workplace Safety Awards and the Everyday Safety Hero Awards will honor organizations and individuals that have made health and safety a priority.

The 2018 conference has been expanded to include additional session tracks on construction and maintenance, as well as technology in safety. New opportunities are the distracted driver simulator and expanded professional development options such as recertification credits and career counseling. The latest best practices in workplace health and safety will be front and center.

Cost for the three-day conference and expo is $499. Other registration options (which include group discounts) are available. For complete information visit
