Flood Gates Going Up In Vincennes

(VINCENNES) - Vincennes has installed its first flood gate as the Wabash River continues to rise.

The area closed by the floodgate runs from Oliphant Drive at Chicago Avenue, to Terre Haute Road near Ford's Sawmill.

The gate will stay in place, until river levels recede

Two other floodgates will be installed if needed.

They are located at the Kimmel Park entrance near Wabash Steel, and the main Kimmel Park entrance at Red Skelton Boulevard.

The latest forecast calls for the Wabash at Vincennes to crest at 26 feet on Saturday, 10 feet above flood stage.
