Arrest Made In Online Threats Of Violence Targeting An Evansville High School

Last updated on Sunday, February 18, 2018

(EVANSVILLE) - Evansville Police arrested an 18-year-old Central High School student Friday for making an online threat.

Police say Brandon Lee Jones wrote "since Florida lost some people, it's time for somebody else to. I'm shooting up one of the Evansville High Schools tomorrow."

Police traced the IP address for the post to Jones' home.

He told investigators he posted the comment with the intent of causing school to be canceled on Friday.

Due to multiple absences, police said Jones told them he was concerned he would be referred to court if he missed anymore school days.

Police say they don't believe anyone else was involved in the case.

Jones was arrested on a felony charge of intimidation and misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
