Stolen Police Handgun Recovered During Vigo County Traffic Stop

(VIGO CO.) - An Indiana State Trooper recovered a stolen police issued handgun during a traffic stop in Vigo County Friday.

After smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle, the trooper searched the car.

No marijuana was found, but a handgun believed to have been stolen from a retired Indianapolis Police Officer's car was located in the purse of a passenger.

37-year-old Sasha Batson of Terre Haute was preliminarily charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of Handgun without a Permit.

The driver, 35-year-old Howard Lorenzo Harris of Terre Haute, was arrested for Possession of a Handgun without a Permit, Possession of Stolen Property, and Operating While Intoxicated-Marijuana.
