Indiana Economic Development Specialists Receive Training Sponsored By Duke Energy

(PLAINFIELD) - Convincing new and expanding companies to locate in your region is a competitive process and not easy work. There’s more to it than meets the eye.

That's why Duke Energy has once again sponsored the Indiana Economic Development Course, the official basic course for the state of Indiana. The company provided scholarships for 11 local and regional economic development specialists from around the state to attend.

The course offers "intensive training in the basic concepts, methods and strategies of economic, industrial, business, entrepreneurial, community and workforce development," according to the course website.

In addition, Jody Hamilton, vice president of economic development at Greater Lafayette Commerce, has received a scholarship from Duke Energy to attend the first-ever Advanced Economic Development Leadership program. The program, held over two, one-week sessions in Texas and Missouri, is designed specifically for mid- to senior-level economic developers. Hamilton was one of only 40 applicants accepted into the inaugural program.

Erin Schneider and Misty McCammack from Duke Energy Indiana's economic development team will also attend the sessions.
