(BRAZIL) - Indianapolis Colts placekicker Adam Vinatieri will team up with sheriffs from across the state to raise money for a new not-for-profit for future law enforcement officers and at-risk kids.
Vinatieri will serve as honorary chair of this year's 2nd Annual "Sheriffs' Shotgun Shoot," a public sporting clay tournament to be hosted at the world-class Cool Springs Education Center in Southwest Indiana on May 4.
Garmong Construction Services of Evansville, Terre Haute and Indianapolis is organizing the event along with OFS Brands, a Huntingburg-based producer and global marketer of business furniture, and Ardizzone Enterprises, a major Indianapolis real estate investment and management company.
Proceeds will benefit the new Indiana Sheriffs' Youth Ranch which will serve as the permanent home for the Indiana Sheriffs' Youth Leadership Camps, now in their 39th year. Located in Clay County near Brazil, Ind., the Youth Ranch will be open to teens from all communities in all 92 counties.
"Our new Youth Ranch will offer swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking and ziplining among other activities," said Marion County Sheriff John Layton, ISYR board president. "Teens will also learn in age-appropriate ways about first aid, CPR, personal safety, cybercrimes, financial security, bullying, firearms safety and substance abuse."
Six-person teams will shoot at the May 4 benefit. Cost is $150 per shooter or $800 per six-person team. An additional $50 discount is offered for each law enforcement officer, firefighter, active or reserve military.
Trophies will be given to top female, male and team shooters. A complimentary BBQ lunch will be served between morning and afternoon flights.
Cool Springs Education Center features a world-class sporting clays facility designed by professional shooter Marty Fisher. Participants will use their own 12- and 20-gauge shotguns. Only shells provided by Cool Springs will be permitted. Safety training will be conducted before morning and afternoon sessions.
