Key Indiana State Legislator Resigning

Last updated on Tuesday, December 26, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A key state legislator is resigning.

Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Chairman Brandt Hershman is moving to Washington D.C. to take a job there with the Barnes and Thornburg law firm.

Hershman is also Senate majority leader.

His departure means the Senate will have new leaders for both its key fiscal committees.

Appropriations Committee Chairman Luke Kenley retired this summer.

He spearheaded several big pieces of legislation in his time in the Capitol City, including a law banning gay marriage in Indiana in 2007.
