Counterterrorism Expert named to Lead FBI in Indianapolis

Last updated on Friday, December 8, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - FBI Director Christopher A. Wray has appointed a counterterrorism expert to be the top bureau official in Indianapolis.

Wray this week named Bradley "Grant" Mendenhall as the special agent in charge of the Indianapolis Division beginning in February. He most recently served as the assistant director of the FBI's Counterterrorism Division.

Mendenhall joined the FBI as a special agent in 1990. The Indiana native and 1986 Ball State University graduate also has held FBI leadership positions in the Salt Lake City Division, the Washington Field Office, as the FBI on-scene commander in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and as the deputy legal attaché in Baghdad, Iraq.

In Indianapolis, Mendenhall will succeed Jay Abbott, who's retiring at the end of January.
