Last updated on Monday, December 18, 2017

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Arts Commission announced the approval of grant funding for 68 projects next year at Indiana’s State Parks and Historic Sites.

"It's exciting to see that artists and arts organizations are building lasting partnerships with the parks and historic sites," said Anna Tragesser, IAC Artist and Community Development Manager and Arts in the Parks & Historic Sites program manager. "Thirty-eight of our 44 artist grantees, and 16 of the 24 funded organizations also received grants in previous years to produce arts activities at state parks and historic sites."

For a listing of the 2018 Arts in the Parks & Historic Sites projects, visit http://www.in.gov/arts/2337.htm. A full schedule of Arts in the Parks & Historic Sites 2018 public activities will be available soon. The number of 2018 grant awarded services, which will occur at 37 state properties, is similar to the number of awards in 2017 which produced 450 art opportunities.

The Commission approved the funding recommendations during its December 8, 2017 Quarterly Business Meeting in Noblesville, Indiana.

Arts in the Parks & Historic Sites draws upon traditional and non-traditional arts and artists in Indiana, weaving arts into the state's natural beauty and rural settings. The program funds art activities that engage visitors to create and experience art that celebrates the uniqueness of our state historic sites, parks, lakes and forests.

Arts in the Parks & Historic Sites is a partnership with Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites.
