Last updated on Wednesday, November 8, 2017

(MARION) - Indiana Wesleyan University’s Division of Modern Language and Literature (MLL) is hosting the third annual Alumni Author Series at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The event is designed to showcase an MLL alumnus or alumna and allow them to talk to current MLL students about their career in the writing field.

This year's featured speaker will be Riane Konc, a humor writer and essayist. Riane is a frequent contributor to The New Yorker and has had work in The Washington Post, The New York Times, Paste Magazine, McSweeney's and more. She graduated from IWU in 2009 with a degree in English Education and currently lives in Cincinnati with her husband, daughter and two cats.

"The Division of Modern Language and Literature Alumni Author Series showcases alums from the division who have published books of fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and more or who have had shorter works published in prestigious national and international journals," said Dr. Mary Alice Trent, chair, Division of Modern Language and Literature. "At these events, authors read from their original published works, talk about their writing craft, share tips about the publishing industry and entertain questions from audience."

The Alumni Author Series event will take place on IWU's residential campus in Elder Hall in Room 143. It is free of charge and open to the public.
